Dear Ones,
This is my last newsletter article as your Interim Minister and what a time it has been! I have always seen the potential for First Christian Church to grow not only numerically, but spiritually as well. As I depart what I see is that now you see it too as you live into your potential. First Christian Church is an incredible and much needed voice for Las Cruces and surrounding area. What you have to offer in your authentic embrace of unconditional love, is something that is sorely and surely needed in our hurting and broken world. Your love of God and desire to serve God well in a variety of ways is uplifting.
We have all been stretched in our lives over the past couple of months as we deal with what the corona virus means to our daily living and how we are adapting to the stay-at-home mandate. The article submitted by Donald Wilson should make us feel good because all of our efforts have been making a positive impact in this county. Thank you for using your God-given common sense of following instructions on how to care for others while you care for yourselves during this social distancing time. This is very hard work as our emotions go up and down that roller coaster ride on an almost daily basis. I am hopeful that you are feeling as proud of your efforts as I am. We will all need to keep this up for perhaps longer than any of us expected, but I believe it will be worth the lives we save – maybe even our own.
If you have not visited our FCCLC private Facebook page, please give that a try. There are interesting articles, and postings of encouragement and challenge. This is also a place many check in daily to see if there might be some needs within our church family such as picking up prescriptions if someone is unable to, that type of thing. There is also an invitation for you to write up your experience during this time of Covid-19, and the opportunity to share how you’ve been feeling, what you’ve been doing, and how you’ve been coping (or not) during this time.
Well, a little housekeeping stuff before I go by thanking everyone for your care and support over the past two+ years in Las Cruces. I attempted to thank everyone by name because there are so many reasons to give thanks, but I kept thinking of this person, and that person, and you, and I was certainly afraid to forget someone. So, simply, thank you. As you are blessed, you are also a blessing.
Well, there it is. Amen and Amen.
Blessings,
Donna
