A Pastoral Note
Dear Ones,
These days sure have felt surreal and sometimes make me feel like I’m in The Twilight Zone. Maybe you have had that sense as well.
I want to assure you that your leadership is doing everything possible during this time to keep you healthy and safe. Yes, there will be worship at the regular time tomorrow, followed by a special congregational meeting where a vote will take place on the Search Committee’s candidate, Bethany Meier. If you are not able to be there in person, you can still vote as per instructions seen on email blast, website and Facebook page.
About future worship – the Board will be meeting at 5 pm tomorrow (by Zoom – rather than in person) to deliberate best practices and alternative worship experiences for the next few Sundays. You will be informed of the decision as soon as possible.
Most importantly, keep yourself safe and healthy and know we are all doing our best to help lessen the impact of the corona virus in our community by the measures we take today. And, let’s be sure to keep each other in prayer.
If you wonder what you can do during this time, follow these wise words from Rabbi Yosef Kanefsky.
“Every hand that we
don’t shake must become a phone call that we place.”
“Every embrace that we avoid must become a verbal expression of warmth and
concern.”
“Every inch and every foot that we physically place between ourselves and
another, must become a thought as to how we might be of help to that other,
should the need arise.” (Facebook)
Here’s a prayer that never gets outdated:
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference. Amen.
