This is the last article I will write as President of the church Board. I want to thank everyone that has contributed to the life and success of the church over the past two years.
As with any time in the life of the church, we have gained some new members and lost some members that were/are dear to us. I want to thank the Elders for continuing to inspire us to be stewards of God’s largesse and better Christians in our daily lives. I want to thank the Deacons for serving us faithfully each week. I want to thank the members of the Board and the chairs of the various committees for organizing our efforts and keeping us moving ever forward as we are “actively reclaiming Christianity as an inclusive, expansive, and loving spiritual pathway.” I want to thank Rev Donna for leading us during this period of transition and for calling us to fulfill the higher purpose she sees for First Christian Church in our community. And mostly, I want to thank each of the members that shares his/her gifts, whether those gifts are time, talent, gold, a sincere hello a genuine prayer or a joyful noise during the worship service. First Christian Church is not a building at 1809 El Paseo. It is a unique collection of people that are creating a place where Christians — regardless of spiritual upbringing or gender identity — can come together to worship, and to impact the community. So thank you. Let’s do it again even better and bolder in 2020!
