The Thanksgiving holiday offers an opportunity to reflect on our blessings. I am blessed with health, family, a rewarding vocation and membership in First Christian Church. I recently reviewed a summary of the congregational questionnaire that Carol Lyon has prepared. Carol did a remarkable job of consolidating and capturing the essence of the many surveys that were submitted. I was struck by two common themes: (1) many of us are grateful for the sense of welcome and “family” that we experience through participation in the activities of the church; and (2) many of us are hopeful that the church will continue to offer this to new members and will actually grow to offer this to a larger number of members. The $64,000 question is how do we secure our long term financial success and grow?
Your Church Board is engaged with this question. We just completed our annual stewardship campaign. The Board will now look at the results of that campaign and determine how best to organize the resources of the church (monetary, physical and spiritual) in order to prepare us for the future.
One other message that is clear when I read the summary from the congregation survey is that we are more than the sum of our parts. If you harbor the desire to be more involved in the church, or involved in a different way, please reach out to myself or a member of the Board. We are eager to welcome your participation in the growth of the church.
