A group from your Congregation, previously known as the Social Action Team, the Mission Task Force and the Just General Good Guys, Looking For Something To Do. Well, some of the group have met and determined that a new name was needed. A name that would be catchy, meaningful, entice people, a name that would scream out a mission and left no doubt what it does. The new name is…. FCC – FAITH ACTION GROUP. Huh? Great isn’t it? It’s kind of sexy in an action hero way. What’s great is, it’s is a non-exclusive group. Just to mention a few of our supporting ACTIONS…
• El Caldito, Soup Kitchen at the Community of Hope • Oak Tree Project Refugee at El Calvario Methodist Mission Church • Item Donations for Refugees • Operation Streamline – advocating for undocumented refugees through our court system • Our Own Congregation Thanksgiving • World Aids Day, Dec 1 commemorating those that have died of this terrible disease. • Our Special Monetary Offerings supporting a specific mission. • Sandy’s Socks • PFLAG Fundraising Dinner • Habitat for Humanity Volunteer Holiday Gift Wrapping • Item Donations for the FCC Food Bank
That’s the list of ACTION causes that this congregation supports right now. There may be more that we are not aware of. Let your minister, Donna Cavedon, know if there is a specific mission the FAITH ACTION GROUP should endorse. A specific mission that the Faith Action Group and the Board feels compatible with our congregation for support and action. There are no memberships, no committee chairs or leaders. Everyone in the congregation can be a member of this action group if they want to promote or advocate for a specific mission or cause. The next FAITH ACTION GROUP meeting is Dec 21 at 1:30, minister’s office. Join us.
