The summer solstice is behind us and the dog days of summer are ahead of us. The congregational meeting was well attended. Those in attendance heard Rev. Donna talk about church size and challenge us to decide what size church we aspire to be at FCC. Everyone then completed a copy of the Diversity Inventory. These have been sent to Phil Brooks to tabulate and analyze. Members that did not attend the meeting are encouraged to complete a survey. Please see the website for details.
I’ve been saddened by the progression of events surrounding the treatment of immigrants. This is an excellent opportunity for Christian churches from across the denominational spectrum to get together and speak with a unified voice! I hope our clerical leaders will seize this opportunity to draw a line in the sand about the Christian commandment to love thy neighbor. I hope every individual that ascribes to a Christian belief system and attends a Christian church will send a loudly worded message to the administration that condemns callous and inhumane treatment of “the stranger in our land.” Now is not a time to be silent, so please speak up on behalf of these “the least of my brethren.”
