FCC in LC is Open and Affirming!
In February of 2004, the congregation of First Christian Church in Las Cruces voted to become an Open and Affirming Congregation of the Disciples of Christ.
In 2011, we joined the United Church of Christ as a dually affiliated congregation. By this time, being an Open and Affirming congregation was deeply ingrained in our congregational psyche.
Recently we discovered that we were not considered Open and Affirming by the UCC. So, we moved quickly to rectify this.
On May 20, 2023, the Board of Directors voted unanimously to adopt the following statement:
